John 1:4-5

“4 In Him was Life, and that Life was The Light of men.  5 The Light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.”

Everyone has heard the expression “God Is The Light”.  God IS The Light.  The Bible tells us wholly that The Light is from The Lord.  We are witnesses and servants of The Light.

Written of John The Baptist in John 1:6-9, “6There came a man who was sent from God; his name was John.  7He came as a witness to testify concerning That Light, so that through him all men might believe.  8He himself was not The Light.  9The True Light that gives Light to every man was coming into the world.”

The Holy Spirit is the Spiritual Energy that courses through our bodies and through our lives.  The closer we get to The Lord, the brighter The Light shines on/in us.  You can’t see this “Light” with your mortal eyes.  After the Kingdom Of God descends and we are all in our glorified bodies, we will see, feel and consume The Light Of God always.  Although your mortal eyes can’t see The Light, your soul can feel The Light.  The Holy Spirit surrounds us always and grows stronger in us as we grow stronger in Him.

Now, this brings us to our archenemy, Satan.  You know, that loser who used to be one of Heaven’s most beautiful Angels and let his hatred for man and his ego convince him he could be a deity.  WRONG!  Satan did accomplish one thing.  He built this tremendous area of shade, shading from The Light Of The Lord.  He lives in this darkness, hence the name (pardon the lowercase, but I just shudder at his name) “prince of darkness”.  Consumed in darkness, not the physical darkness we experience at night, but a Spiritual darkness lacking The Light Of The Lord.

Let us examine darkness.  I really don’t want to get technical (yes I do), but darkness is nothingness.  To put this into perspective, let’s do a comparative analysis utilizing that great fire in the sky, our Sun.  The Sun is a star.  It operates by fusing hydrogen into helium and as a byproduct, among other things, produces light.  This is the light we see with our eyes and contains wavelengths unperceivable to our eyes, but tans our bodies and is felt as heat.  At night it grows dark.  It is dark only because we are shaded from the Sun.  There is no way to measure darkness besides analyzing its lack of light.  You could say it isn’t “dark”; it’s just “not light”.

Strange this may sound, but so true.  It is the same way with heat.  There is no cold.  There is no way to measure cold.  We can measure the amount of heat present and assume because it is not very hot that it is cold, but cold we can’t measure.  If there is absolutely no heat we call this “absolute zero” because there is zero heat (and believe me, that is cold (see Bose/Einstein Condensation)).

Now that I have thoroughly confused you, let me get back to the main subject, The Light Of The Lord.  By my aforementioned analogy about light and heat, you can rationalize that Satan’s darkness has no energy, capability or power, only the power to shade you from The Light of The Lord.  Just because a man might be shaded from The Light, it doesn’t mean The Lord does not know what you are doing or thinking.  Jesus holds the keys to Satan’s abyssal domain and Satan, therefore, has no physical capability over man.  He can, however, lure you into his darkness.

As Jesus stated in John 3:19-21, “19This is the verdict:  Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of Light because their deeds were evil.  20Everyone who does evil hates The Light, and will not come into The Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.  21But whoever lives by The Truth comes into The Light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God.”

Satan does this through temptation and deceit.  He can’t make you come to his side; he can only lure you to his side.  You have a power over Satan that will bring him to his knees, GOD.  Remember, Satan hates us so because God loves us so.  Jesus’ shadow, when cast across a demon possessed man was all that was required to drive that demon from the man.

The mention of Christ’s Name will tear all of Satan’s masks away and reveal his inner self to even the weakest of souls.  Lack of faith in God and fear of Satan go hand in hand.  This is why a strong commitment to The Lord and unswerving faith in God is so important, especially this day and age as Satan maintains a stronger and stronger grip on society.

Remember, The Light Of The Lord can and will give you eternal life, but being shaded from The Light Of The Lord Gives You Eternal Death.  This is a spiritual death, but it will be a death that is more real than anything you can imagine.
