Children Of Light

This is a synopsis by Pastor David Halford.  I hope you enjoy it, but remember these are my words.  Like all other words written by man, beware the content.  Though I have thought this over carefully and prayed over them diligently, I am just a man prone to error and the influence of Satan.  I have tried to supply as much Scripture as possible and made the best interpretation I could, but study The Living Word for guidance and pray God gives you discernment to know the truth.  If you find error or disagree, please E-Mail me and let me know.  I understand my shortcomings and will change what is wrong.  I will give you credit for any input you make and will not belittle you for mistakes.  The Holy Spirit has inspired me to write this and my prayer is that it will enlighten you and perhaps even answer a question you might have.  I know, God is God and I am not.  I post my writings to serve others and praise the Glorious Name of God.  I consider us to be "Children of Light" and wanted to write about it.  By clicking the Name "Children of Light" above, it will take you to the poem of like name I have written.  Our Father in Heaven loves us all and writing of His Love for us is my way of Glorifying Him.

John 12:35-36

35 Then Jesus told them, "You are going to have the Light just a little while longer. Walk while you have the Light, before darkness overtakes you. Those who walk in the dark do not know where they are going. 36 Put your trust in the Light while you have the Light, so that you may become Children of Light." When he had finished speaking, Jesus left and hid himself from them.

Who are the “Children of Light”?  I will think it out for you with Scripture.  I like to use Scripture to do this, as I know all Scripture is true and can only be refuted by the ramblings of a fool.

Psalms 119:105

Your Word is a Lamp to my feet and a Light for my path.

Isaiah 10:17

The Light of Israel will become a fire, their Holy One a flame; in a single day it will burn and consume his thorns and his briers.

Are you following me yet?  Can you see the trend I am laying down?  We will continue.

Matthew 5:14-16

14 "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven".

Who is the light that they would be put on a stand to be seen by others rather than being placed under a bowl?  Who are these that their light will shine before others?

Jesus said this of Himself in The Gospel of John:

John 9:4-5

4 As long as it is day, we must do the works of Him who sent Me. Night is coming, when no one can work. 5 While I am in the world, I am the Light of the world."

John 12:46

"I have come as Light into the world, so that everyone who believes in Me will not remain in darkness."

We have little doubt, as Christians, that Christ Jesus was The Light of The World.  His Light shines on us today, it shined from before the beginning of all things and will shine on forever and ever.  We are His children.  He gave us this Light to shine from within us, showing the world that The Light is in the world and He commands us to let it shine for all to see.

For this reason The Apostle Paul had good reason to call the true Christians of the world  "Children Of Light".

Ephesians 5:6-14

6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. 7 Therefore do not be partakers with them; 8 for you were formerly darkness, but now you are Light in the Lord; walk as Children of Light 9 (for the fruit of the Light consists in all goodness and righteousness and truth), 10 trying to learn what is pleasing to the Lord. 11 Do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them; 12 for it is disgraceful even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret. 13 But all things become visible when they are exposed by the light, for everything that becomes visible is light. 14 For this reason it says, "Awake, sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you."

We have always been called the Gentiles.  It makes sense as there are only the Jews and the Gentiles, but let’s go one step further than this.  The Gentiles were always considered to be a heathen people as they believed in either nothing or idol based gods, such as Baal.   We know that this is wrong.  It is right (it isn't ethically okay to believe in idols, but it is correct) that the Gentiles believed in idols, but believing in idols is wrong.  No representation of God can be fashioned by the hands of man.  Even Moses was told to build his “Alters to God” from natural, uncut rock, as man cannot fashion an altar to God.

For this reason, we, as Christian Soldiers will refer to one another as Children of Light.  We are the Children of the Light who have come into the world.
